Granulomas
These commonly form at the stoma edge or on the actual stoma as a result of friction from the appliance. These are harmless, but can bleed and hinder application of the appliance. Management of these should be by a stoma care nurse. Slight pressure on the bleeding area may be sufficient to stop the bleeding. Otherwise consult your stoma care nurse who may use silver nitrate pencil.
