Radiotherapy
Radiotherapy, also known as DXT [deep x-ray therapy] aims to treat a limited area known as 'site specific' where the cancer has occurred. The aim of this therapy is cell death at the site of the cancer. Radiotherapy is given in small doses, often daily, over a set period of time. Before treatment starts patients are ‘planned’. This is where a radiotherapy specialist measures and plans specific treatment for each individual. Actual treatment time is brief, calculated in seconds each time. Your specialist nurse can discuss the treatment and any side effects with you.
